From Real Men to Darke London
In the midst of writing book 3 of my Real Men series, I’ve received first round edits for Darke London, my historical romance I recently sold. Suddenly my mindset has had to do a full on gear shift. From sunny, contemporary rural Australia, I’ve been plunged headfirst into Victorian London. Darke London takes place in the great, tumultuous city that was London in the mid 19th century, where great wealth, privilege, and scientific advancements marched alongside incredible poverty, abuse, and superstition. I don’t quite know how to classify Darke London. It’s historical, but has touches of the supernatural and steampunk, and you could say I’ve taken a few liberties with historical fact. But first and foremost it’s a romance between a brilliant but troubled young doctor and the mysterious woman he rescues from a brutal attack on the Isle of Dogs. (And I just love that name ‘Isle of Dogs’, so evocative.)
Darke London will be published by Samhain in September this year.
